Luxury self catering holiday accommodation set at the foot of the Pentland hills on the 700 acre farm, overlooking the breathtaking city of Edinburgh.

Swanston Farm Holiday Cottages were skillfully renovated from an old farm steading into six beautiful cottages in 2001. Set at the foot of the Pentland Hills Regional Park on our 700 acre farm, our self-catering holiday cottages boast stunning countryside views yet are only within a 20 minute drive from Edinburgh Castle, the city centre shops and attractions and Edinburgh Airport. Framing one side of a traditional stone courtyard, each benefit from free parking, a private entrance and south-facing gardens. The cottages were awarded a 4 Star (Excellent) grade by the Scottish Tourist Board Quality Assurance Scheme (now VisitScotland).   Swanston Farm Holiday Cottages are perfect for short stay, temporary long-stay and are also suitable between house moves, if you have the builders in or need somewhere for your extended family to stay.

All cottages have the following:

  • Free wifi
  • Double glazed windows
  • Gas central heating
  • Fully fitted kitchen (fridge-freezer, washing machine dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and standard oven)
  • Bathroom with bath and shower
  • Cottages numbered 4, 8 and 9 have an extra downstairs toilet
  • Separate garden access

Dogs are allowed in all of our cottages for an extra charge of £20.00 per dog per week.

Cots and High-Chairs are available for all of our cottages for a small extra one-off charge of £5 per item.

Z-Beds (single) are available for all of our cottages for an extra charge of £20 per week.

Free WIFI, bed linen, towels, heating and electricity are all included with all of our cottages.

The holiday cottages can be booked for a minimum of 3 days and are ideal not just for holidays, but also for wedding parties, longer lets as a place to stay during house restorations, in between moving house or for accommodation for extended families during the Edinburgh Fringe, Half Term, Easter, Summer or Christmas holidays. Weekly bookings are typically Saturday to Saturday, however we can be more flexible if a shorter booking is required during the quieter times of the year.  Dogs are more than welcome for a small extra charge and will enjoy the fabulous walking around Swanston Farm and the surrounding Pentland Hills.

“I started taking my family holiday at Swanston Farm Holiday Cottages in 2007 and now come every year. Our annual pilgrimage has expanded to our extended family and we now take 3 cottages between us and 3 generations of family, including children and dogs, descend on Swanston for a week in the summer.”

“The cottages are all beautifully clean, cosy and warm and have all the facilities you would need to cater for a family holiday. Fantastic walking over the hills and with Swanston Brasserie and the golf course on the doorstep, we regularly spend an entire day on the Farm without the need to venture in to Edinburgh.”

“Swanston Farm Holiday Cottages are the perfect place for extended family, between house moves, for holidays or as a place to stay whilst you’ve got the builders in”

“My husband and I had our wedding at Swanston Brasserie and we rented out all 6 of the cottages for friends and family.  It meant that our celebrations didn’t have to be restricted to our ceremony and dinner, making the most of our time together, ending our stay with a BBQ for everyone in the garden of Cottage 4.  We were so well looked after and it felt like home from home”
